dc.description.abstract This thesis examines the impacts of great power competition in artificial intelligence (AI) on the security of the South Asian region. The rise of AI is transforming the current technological revolution, as it serves as an enabling technology that enhances other technologies and industries. Its versatility to advance various technologies makes AI critically important in the realm of both security and the economy. Therefore, major powers are competing to gain dominance in this transformative technology. The convergence of global power competition with AI’s emergence is significantly impacting South Asian regional politics. Therefore, this study aims to explore the military and economic impacts of Great power competition in AI on South Asia, utilizing qualitative research collecting data from both primary and secondary sources. The research found that the rise of the militarization of AI and economic inequalities are key consequences of AI development. Additionally, it highlighted the growing dependency and asymmetry of power at both international and regional levels. This study provides valuable insights into the intersection of emerging technologies and international relations and contributes to understanding the future trajectory of global power dynamics in the South Asian region. en_US
