dc.description.abstract | The legalistic approach often leads to a neglect of the social dimensions of ʾIslām. ʾIslām teaches us to confront wrongdoing strategically to eliminate it without disrupting the social fabric of the society. The study analysed hypocrites’ conduct, their behavioural traits, and interactions’ principles of Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to maintain the social fabric of Medīna, ultimately leading to hypocrites’ assimilation into the Muslim community. Peaceful coexistence can be achieved through the Islamic principle of weighing based on appearances rather than someone’s inner intentions. The research involved a descriptive aspect, which comprehensively depicted the hypocrites’ actions. The analytical component uncovered underlying patterns, motivations, implications, and the social context of each interaction of Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم. Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم managed the hypocrites through strategic tolerance and selective intervention without confrontation. Preventing hypocrites from forming a distinct identity, not publicly identifying their names, and allowing opportunities for repentance demonstrated that coexistence can be maintained without compromising principles. The strategies of Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to deal with hypocrites addressed community cohesiveness and social coexistence. The responses of Prophet Muḥammad صلى الله عليه وسلم provide valuable insights to manage social discord. | en_US |
