Abstract:
This study aims to examine the Fear of Abandonment, Psychological
Flexibility and social support among the caregivers of Dialysis Patient. It was
hypothesized that there is likely to be a relationship between Fear of Abandonment,
Psychological Flexibility and social support among the caregivers of Dialysis Patient.
It was also hypothesized that there is likely to be gender difference in Fear of
Abandonment, Psychological Flexibility and social support among the caregivers of
Dialysis Patient. The sample was comprised of 200 caregivers (Male=120,
female=80) of dialysis patients. Purposive sampling technique was used. A cross
sectional research design was used. Three scales i.e. Revised Adult Attachment scale
(R-AAS) (Hazen & Shaver, 1987), Psychological Flexibility Questionnaire (PFQ)
(Ben-Itzhak & Bluvstein, 2014) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social
Support (MSPSS) (Zimet et al., 1988) was used to assess Fear of Abandonment,
Psychological Flexibility and social support. The data was analyzed through SPSS
(version 25). Descriptive analysis was used to for demographics. In order to study
relationship between variables, Pearson product Moment Correlation analysis was
used. Independent sample T-test used to analyze the gender difference in study
variables. The study shows that the psychological flexibility, fear of abandonment and
social support has significant relationship. There is no significant gender difference in
Fear of Abandonment, Psychological Flexibility and social support among the
caregivers of Dialysis Patient.
