Smart FYP Manager

Abstract

Now a days it is seen that Universities has been going on a proper medium for their learning as Learning Management System (LMS) but till date Universities are not able to manage/develop a proper medium/platform for Final Year Projects (FYPs). Even Final Year Project Coordinators are lacking a proper medium through which they could be communicating and sending notifications and alerts to students about Deadlines, Submissions etc. It is even seen that students are struggling to find a supervisor for their Final Year Project (FYP). Moreover, in case if any student finds a teacher/resource person then he gets to know that teacher/resource person is not available to select him as supervisor as he is supervising some other FYP Group or is not willing to be a supervisor, and hence once again the struggle to find a supervisor continues. There should be a platform which could be able to reduce the student(s) struggle, to manage Final Year Projects smoothly, and to reduce the communication gap between student(s), teacher(s), and FYP coordinator. In view of above problems, we are proposing a platform named as “Smart FYP Manager” where FYP Coordinator, Supervisor(s), and Student(s) would be able to connect with each other through a proper medium. Through this platform, FYP Coordinator would be able to notify student(s) about any kind of news, notifications, or alerts. Students would be able to struggle less and just land on this platform and check which teacher/resource person is available to select as a supervisor, is not available or is not willing to be supervisor. We would be developing a Web Application using JavaScript Programming Language, and in specific the technology which would be used to develop is “MERN Stack”. We will be having React.js as Front-End Framework, Express.js as Back-End Framework, MongoDB.js as Database and Node.js as a development environment. Through this Web Application, struggle of students to find/select a supervisor would become less, lackness of a medium which a FYP Coordinator lacks would be vanished, and Universities would be having a proper medium through which student(s), teacher(s), and FYP coordinator would be able to communicate with each other properly and finally the communication gap would start to decrease and gradually it would be even vanished.
