Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate psychological well-being in working mothers and its relationship with social support i.e., social support received by significant others, support received by friends and support received by family. The research study also investigates the relationship between psychological well-being and work family conflict- family work conflict. There is a minimum research on the phenomenon with the population of working mothers in Pakistan in private sectors. The study was conducted on 419 Pakistani working mothers ranging between 25 years to 50 years working in private and public sectors of Pakistan. The data of this sample population has been collected from the metropolitan cities of Pakistan i.e., Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad. Correlational analysis was used and showed a significant positive relationship between social support i.e., social support received by significant others, support received by friends and support received by family and a significant negative relationship with WFC-FWC.A multiple hierarchical regression analysis was used and the results suggested that psychological well-being of working mothers is positively predicted by Social support i.e., social support received by significant others, support received by friends and support received by family and negatively predicted by Work Family conflict. One way Anova results showed that psychological well-being of a working mother depends upon the number of children, educational level and Socio-economic status.
