Abstract:
The current study was intended to explore the relationship between Academic Self Efficacy, Academic Locus of Control, and Imposter Phenomenon among undergraduate university students. The sample of the study consisted of 300 university students with age range of 18-26 years. Sample was collected through purposive sampling technique, from various government and private universities across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Three measures were used in the current study for measuring the study variables, i.e. Impostor Phenomenon was measured using the Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale (CIPS) (Clance, 1986), Academic Self-Efficacy scale (Ghafoor & Ashraf, 2007), for assessing the student's confidence in their ability to successfully perform academic tasks and Academic Locus of Control scale (Morelli et. al, 2023) to measure an individual's belief about the extent to which their academic success or failure is controlled by internal factors (such as effort or ability) or external factors (such as luck or teacher influence).Pearson Product Moment Correlation showed that there is a positive relationship between academic Locus of Control, External Locus of Control, Internal Locus of Control and Imposter Phenomenon. STEM, Academic Self-efficacy, and Academic locus of control were predictors of Imposter Phenomenon in Hierarchical Regression. Additional findings, limitations and future recommendations are also being discussed.
