dc.description.abstract Reverse osmosis, water purification technology, fundamentally comprises of a semi permeable membrane having filtering capability of micrometers and an applied pressure to overcome the osmotic pressure. Reverse osmosis is functionally inverse from osmosis in which molecules diffuse from higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of molecules and ions from the solution, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of portable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as the solvent) to pass freely. Under the Technical Assistance of SO-SAFE and the knowledge gained by visiting the reverse osmosis plant of SO~SAFE 1500 GPD automatic brackish water reverse osmosis plant was built. All specifications including TDS (total dissolved solute), pH, and pressure and power consumption were studied from the industrial based system’s perspective. Fatek programmable logic control is used to make the system convenient for user and also for enhancing the efficiency safety of the system. We are using pressure cut out switches and EOCR for the safety of pumps, different types of dozing and high pressure cut out switch for the safety of membrane. en_US
