Abstract:
The following research project dwells in detail upon the concept of Maritime Delimitation and its notion contained under United Nations Convention on Law of Sea. Under the law of UNCLOS, this research paper discusses the dispute over Sir Creek region between Pakistan and India. I have examined the principles and methods provided by international law in the forms of judicial precedents and customary rules. It is also important to highlight that issue of Sir Creek requires negotiations or arbitration to settle the unwinding issues by using maritime delimitation principle. The state practices are hard to determine and usually the only option left is international law well established rules itself. The focus here is not primarily on what has led the judiciary in development of maritime delimitation, but the methodology used for continental shelf and exclusive economic zone applications and how this could be helpful in dispute between Pakistan and India.
