dc.description.abstract | In Pakistan, the transgender community's hardships are not veiled. The life of a transgender in Pakistan has not been easy, they have faced discrimination on every aspect of life, whether its healthcare, education, employment, even the justice system. In May of 2018, a law was approved to provide protection to Pakistan's transgender population. After the Khaki case, this is considered to be the first major step taken towards the protection of this community. The goal of this study is to learn more about the background that led to the creation of this Act, as well as the rights that were granted as a result of it. The objective is to analyze the rights critically and comprehend their influence on the transgender population. An in-depth study of the history and protections granted by this Act will aid in determining if the law is sufficient to end discrimination and harassment against transgender individuals in Pakistan. This will help to evaluate whether there are any legal gaps that allow for cruelty or inequity to continue. Fundamental rights guaranteed by Pakistan's constitution should apply to everyone equally. After the enactment of this Act, multiple cases have been brought forward that still depict lack of implementation and lack of awareness. It is essential to create sensitivity amongst people for the community and raise awareness to ensure that any kind of discrimination is not tolerated at any level. Furthermore, in order for the Act to be regarded a success, it must be determined whether it has served its intended purpose and has been implemented, as well as whether any recommendations can be made to improve its efficacy. | en_US |
