Abstract:
This dissertation holds the study of interpretation of 2D seismic data of the concerned seismic lines of Sabzal area situated in Central Indus Basin. The purpose of 2D seismic interpretation of Sabzal area is to evaluate the area to estimate the potential for discovery of hydrocarbons. The data issued included seismic lines, navigation files, well tops and logs of the well Sabzal-01. Reflectors and faults were marked on the seismic lines and contours have been made which confirms that the area has undergone normal faulting evidenced by structures like horst and graben indicating the area to be a part of an extensional regime. Afterwards petrophysical analysis is done for hydrocarbon potential by the determination of quantities like average porosity, effective porosity, and saturation of hydrocarbons in the area. Taking the values from provided log the result is calculated for fluid saturation. However, the well status is abandoned and has not been proven to be economically viable.
