dc.description.abstract United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea as promulgated in 1982 is the parent legislation in the maritime sector. UNCLOS calls for state cooperation by the signatory parties which also involves standard legislation. This thesis reviews the approach made by Islamic Republic of Pakistan in order to ascertain certain cardinal provisions of UNCLOS regarding marine environment along with other applicable statutes and principles of international law. It is apparent that Pakistan lacks implementative legislation to comprehensively curb the challenges to marine life and ecosystem. en_US
