Abstract:
Digital tours are an important part of the modern travel movement. They are a way for
people to view and discover a place that exists in reality as a physical space through
the Internet. Time, distance, working responsibilities, or finances can prevent you from
visiting any university campus before making a university decision. Many universities
have mastered the art of virtual visits in recent years. The importance of employing
this technique is to obtain a panoramic view of the campus.
The main goal of this project is to create a computer-generated environment
that mimics the real world and engages all of a person's senses using Virtual Reality.
We developed our projects using Kuula, Samsung Gear 360 Camera and some editing
and web development softwares. We set a starting point to captured around 2 – 3
images of 360° in different angles. When the shoot was completed, the images were
stitched and at the end, the site was developed.
The users have free access to the site and they are easily able to have a virtual
tour of the campus. It has pin points to the main areas of the campus and by clicking
that, the users can directly jump to those areas. And an information bubble is provided
outside all of the professors’ cabins depicting the availability hours and some
educational/professional achievements of the teachers.
