Abstract:
The banking sector in Islamabad, Pakistan, faces a growing need to balance employee well-being with high performance. This research investigates the impact of work-life balance practices on employee performance, exploring the mediating role of remote work and the moderating effect of technological infrastructure. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing surveys distributed to 385 employees from various banks. Data was analyzed through Statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings reveal a positive association between work-life balance practices and employee performance. The analysis also demonstrates that remote work mediates this relationship. Interestingly, technological infrastructure was not found to moderate the work-life balance practices and remote work connection. However, independent analysis showed direct positive relationships between technological infrastructure and both work-life balance practices and remote work opportunities separately. These results suggest that banks in Islamabad can enhance employee performance by implementing work-life balance initiatives that facilitate remote work opportunities. Additionally, investing in a robust technological infrastructure can further strengthen these positive influences, even though it doesn't directly affect the interplay between work-life balance and remote work. This research aims to contribute to the understanding of work-life balance practices in the Pakistani banking context. By examining the mediating role of remote work and the moderating effect of technological infrastructure, the study offers valuable insights for banks seeking to improve employee work life balance and performance. The findings can inform the development of effective work-life balance initiatives alongside robust remote work policies supported by strong technological infrastructure. This can ultimately lead to a more engaged and productive workforce within the Islamabad banking sector.
