dc.description.abstract | Our Study area is in the Talagang District of the Potwar Plateau in the Upper Indus Basin in Pakistan, near the western Salt Range, it holds significant importance as a major hydrocarbon-producing District. It is marked by the extraction of oil and gas from fractured carbonate deposits dating back to the Eocene Age. In this study, we utilized five seismic lines to do the 2D Seismic Interpretation. Our findings mainly indicate the presence of Horst and Graben structures(Normal faulting) and Folding(Salt Dome) along the strike line where salt tectonics has played a crucial role in their formation. The deformation direction observed in the region is predominantly northwest. The Chorgali Formation and Sakesar Limestone are identified as the main productive reservoir formations. The discovery of these formations was done through the analysis of seismic sections based on a time-depth chart. Moreover, the amount of shortening in the Salt Range and Top Eocene was estimated with the help of Move 3D Software | en_US |
