Abstract:
Like many regions of the world, Enteric fever is still amongst an important health issues in Pakistan. It is a
food borne bacterial illness caused by Salmonella enterica serotypes typhi and typhimurium. The emerging
drug resistance is an important factor leading this infection towards a serious health concerns. The mortality
rate in typhoid patient is 6.25% while in non typhoid group it is 5.5%. An aggressive treatment based upon
accurate serological diagnosis and culture/ sensitivity can reduce the morbidity and mortality rates with the
said micro organism.
