Abstract:
The research was conducted to reveal the subsurface geology of the dhulian area by using the seismic interpretation technique and the hydrocarbon saturation was estimated to find the potential reserves by using petrophysical techniques. Seismic data interpretation plays a crucial role in exploring hydrocarbons and understanding the geology beneath the earth's surface. The field of study is located near Pindigheb, Upper Indus Basin Pakistan. Dhulian area consists of a compressional regime and has various complicated thrust faulting. Structure geology defines that Dhulian’s structure is symmetrical anticline with dips varying from 30° to 35°. Dhulian has the potential and it is also known as one of the most producing fields of Pakistan. Petrophysical analysis was performed on the Lokhart Formation in which a hydrocarbon-bearing zones were identified that was based on identification of well on zone criteria. In Seismic data interpretation horizons were marked and faults were identified on the formation tops which were named Chorgali, Sakesar and Lockhart Formations. Contour maps including time, velocity and depth maps, were also generated.
