dc.description.abstract The main objective of this geoscientific study is to evaluate subsurface structures and reservoir characteristics of the Cretaceous Sand in the Nandpur Gas field located in the Kabir wala area. The Kabir wala area lies in the Sindh monocline of the Punjab Platform, Middle Indus Basin, which is bounded by Sulaiman Depression on the east, Sargodha high on the North and Sukkur rift in the South, Pakistan. The structure of the study area is monocline gently dipping towards south east. Time and Depth contour maps of the three horizons, Lumshiwal Formation, Chichali Formation and Samanasuk Formation were generated which confirms the structure of the area. For petrophysical analysis, reservoir rock analysis of Lumshiwal, Samanasuk and Shinawari Formation are carried out. One zone of Lumshiwal, one zone of Samanasuk Formation and one zone of Shinawari Formation were marked. Well log mostly analyses revealed that the reservoir rocks have almost average porosity 25.04%, effective porosity 16.1%, volume of shale 31.2%, Saturation of water 36.5% and saturation of hydrocarbon is 63.4%. By using seismic results of the depth contours map of Lumshiwal Formation and Samanasuk Formation, and petrophysical analysis that was also done on these Formations. The results clearly indicate the hydrocarbons potential and significance of the study area en_US
