| dc.description.abstract | The Kandra-01 and Kandra-02 wells were drilled to assess an exploration prospect in the Kandra Gas Field, located in the Central Indus Basin, Pakistan. Petrophysical analyses of these wells were conducted to understand reservoir characteristics related to hydrocarbon properties and identify potential hydrocarbon zones. A significant discovery of gas reservoirs was found within the Eocene age rock which is Sui Main Limestone. For evaluation, a standard suite of wireline logs including gamma ray, caliper, sonic, density, neutron and resistivity logs were acquired. In Kandra-01, the Sui Main Limestone exhibits a significant zone extending from 607.50m to 646.50m with a thickness is about 39 meters. This zone shows an average value of computed properties which are 19.1% shale volume, 16.8% effective porosity, and 57.1% hydrocarbon saturation. In contrast, the Kandra-02 well covers an interval from 595.50m to 642m, with a thickness is about 46.5 meters. Here, the shale volume is lower at 14.5%, while effective porosity is slightly higher at 17.36% and 72.61% hydrocarbon saturation. These findings highlight that the Sui Main Limestone in Kandra-02 has less shale volume compared to Kandra-01, yet it displays higher hydrocarbon saturation and better effective porosity. Consequently, the Kandra-02 well is anticipated to offer greater economic viability for hydrocarbon exploration and shows promising potential for reserves within the Sui Main Limestone. The neutron-density cross plot shows some minor beds of dolomite along with the dominant limestone lithology. However, the data clusters representing sand intervals are a result of low neutron density values because of gas presence in both Kandra-01 and Kandra-02 wells | en_US |
