Abstract:
In this emerging world of internet connectivity, IoT (Internet of Things) usually refers to a network of devices connected to share data like consumer products, durable goods, cars and trucks, industrial and utility components, sensors, and promote seamless communication between people, processes, and devices. It is made possible by internet connectivity, cloud computing technology, sensors, machine learning analytics, and even conversational AI like Google Home Assistant, Siri, or Alexa. (Karen Rose, 2015) The Internet of Things can be implemented through various technological communications models. The Internet Architecture Board lists Device-to-Device, Device-to-Cloud, Device-to-Gateway, and Back-End Data-Sharing as four popular communications models. (Karen Rose, 2015) In the Device-to-Device model, the devices are connected and can communicate directly through Bluetooth, IP networks, and the Internet. In Device-to-Cloud, the devices connect to an existing internet cloud service that has a preexisting IP network. (Majumdar, 2019) Device-to-Gateway on the other hand needs to connect to an intermediary device in order to connect to the cloud service. Finally, the Back-End Data-Sharing expands the single device-to-cloud communication model to allow authorized third parties to access IoT devices and sensor data. (Chris, 2016) The widespread use of IoT devices holds great potential to revolutionize numerous facets of our lifestyle. Internet of Things goods, such as energy management tools, internet-enabled appliances, and home automation components are helping consumers envision a "smart home" that is more secure and energy-efficient. (Karen Rose, 2015) An example to show you how the internet of things can change lifestyles, let us observe how the way healthcare services are provided has changed due to Internet of things devices. This includes network-enabled medical equipment and wearable fitness and health monitoring gadgets. Technology like these promises to be advantageous for the elderly and those with impairments, allowing for increased levels of freedom and a better quality of life at a fair cost. (Fox, 2023) IoT has achieved many advancements in the recent years, and as connected devices are expected to grow in the future, the implication that IoT will grow more powerful has cemented itself in the technological world.
