dc.description.abstract This study was conducted to determine water quality in selected sectors of Islamabad. 35 samples were analyzed for biological and physicochemical parameters. Distribution of drinking water in networks is a technological challenge both qualitatively and quantitatively. Water samples were collected according to appropriate procedures. Physical parameters include pH (range 6.35- 8.44), temperature (range 18.1-18.7) °C, conductivity (306-1685) μS/cm, TDS (218-1000) mg/l and common salt (144,836) mg/l. Also, inorganic substances are chloride (Cl-) (60.35-603.5) mg/l, sodium (Na+) (46-391) mg/l, sodium chloride (NaCl) (117-994.5) mg/l, alkalinity (15-268), calcium (186- 807), the label total hardness (280) mg/l can be found. Microbial counts for microbiological analysis showed that the samples contain bacteria that grow on MacConkey agar (coliforms), salmonella and shigella (SS), and nutrient agar (total bacteria). Mapping of the water quality from selected areas has been done using GIS tools that give a clear understanding of the water quality scenario in the study area. en_US
