Abstract:
In contemporary urban living, gated communities serve as a safe haven for their residents. They create a sense of comfort and security for those living there. However, maintaining effective administration and fostering a sense of community in these societies is a big challenge. To address these issues, a mobile application called DoorStep is developed that is tailored specifically for the residents, guards, and administrators of the gated communities. DoorStep is a comprehensive solution to streamline communication and enhance security. It provides three separate apps for different user roles, i.e. resident, guard, and admin. Gated communities have been facing security concerns for a long time, and visitor management and control is still an obstacles to overcome. With DoorStep, this is no longer a problem. Residents simply must generate a gate pass and send it to their guests. The guard will scan that gate pass through his app on the entrance and let the visitors in. To further ensure the safety of the residents we have introduced the S.O.S feature. Any resident in distress who is in need of immediate help can send an S.O.S message from the app by clicking on the floating action icon button. This will send their location along with other details to all the guards as well as the admin of the society and help will be on the way ASAP. Another robust feature we have incorporated to enhance security is Incident Reporting. The residents can report any type of incident along with a picture, a small description, location, and severity of it. This will keep other residents informed and create solidarity among them. For seamless communication we have integrated a three-tier chat module where residents, guards, and admin all can chat with each other. This will create a more engaged community environment. DoorStep is not just an app, it’s a holistic solution to all your needs. It provides the residents with multiple freelance service providers such as house help, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, etc. to choose from Similarly, the residents can access all the society’s amenities from the comfort of their homes. With just a click they can book wedding halls, movie tickets, table in a restaurant and much more. It goes without saying how important residents’ voice is in making the community thrive. They often feel like they are not part of the community because their suggestions are not taken seriously. With DoorStep the residents can provide their valuable feedback in the form of surveys and polls added by the Admin. Furthermore, our app will always keep them updated on upcoming events and activities taking place in the society. DoorStep would revolutionize the way for gated community living. Our application is developed on Flutter as an IDE and DART as a programming language. For the database, we have used firebase which stores real-time data.
