dc.description.abstract Tobacco smoking is universally acknowledged as a significant avoidable factor that increases the risk of illness and death. This study aimed to ascertain the incidence of tobacco smoking and identify the factors linked to the initiation of smoking among female students in Islamabad. Methods: A cross-sectional study among female students of Islamabad to investigate students' perceptions of smoking prevalence and factors influencing their smoking initiation behavior. This investigation will use a primary source of data collection approach. An online Google Forms questionnaire will be used to collect data. This study will be conducted using a pre-tested questionnaire. It will be divided into three sections: 1) Sociodemographics, 2) Factors for the initiation of tobacco use, 3) Awareness towards smoking health effects. Results: A total of 109 female students from different schools, colleges and universities participated in the study. University students have the highest prevalence of smokers. The primary catalyst for commencing tobacco smoking was the impact of one's social circle. Conclusion: Despite being well-informed of the harmful effects of tobacco use, most female students en_US
