dc.description.abstract This study investigates the correlation between the perception of mental health stigma and the act of seeking treatment among university students. Data was gathered from a varied group of students at different universities in Islamabad, using a cross-sectional research design. The data collection focused on demographic factors, attitudes towards mental illness, and the readiness to seek professional psychological assistance. The results demonstrate notable correlations between stigmatizing attitudes and the propensity to seek assistance, suggesting that persons who are inclined to seek aid may nevertheless possess unfavorable perceptions towards people with mental illness. Significantly, there is a correlation between having trust in the efficiency of psychotherapy and a decrease in stigma. This implies that improving the perception of psychotherapy can help alleviate these unfavorable sentiments. Furthermore, the study investigates how educational background, ethnicity, and familial support influence individuals' perception of stigma and their willingness to seek treatment. The findings indicate that treatments that take cultural sensitivity into account, support programmers conducted by peers, and efforts to increase knowledge and understanding of mental health can successfully decrease stigma and promote the willingness to seek help. The analysis highlights the importance of implementing comprehensive measures that tackle the complex nature of stigma. This can be achieved by combining educational, peer support, and institutional policy methods to create a nurturing atmosphere for mental health on campuses. This research emphasizes the crucial importance of focused interventions in enhancing mental well-being and academic achievements among college students. By combating social prejudice and fostering an environment of transparency and assistance, educational establishments can improve the general welfare and scholastic achievements of their pupils. Additional research is advised to investigate the long-term impacts and potential for expansion of these interventions in various cultural settings. en_US
