dc.description.abstract | Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) presents a critical challenge to global healthcare, significantly impacting patient outcomes, healthcare costs, and the efficacy of treatments. This study, "Assessing the Knowledge, Attitude, Practices and Associated Factors of Clinicians Towards Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs in Public and Private Hospitals in Islamabad: A Cross-Sectional Study," investigates the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of clinicians regarding Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASPs) in Islamabad, Pakistan. Utilizing a cross-sectional survey design, data was collected from clinicians across both public and private hospitals in Islamabad to identify gaps in knowledge and practice, and to propose recommendations for enhancing ASPs. Findings revealed that clinicians with advanced education in infectious diseases, longer clinical experience, and those working in private hospitals demonstrated a better understanding and more positive attitudes towards ASPs. However, despite a general awareness of AMR, many clinicians had not participated in ASP-specific training programs. The study underscores the need for comprehensive training and continuous professional development to effectively combat AMR. Furthermore, institutional support and inter-professional collaboration, particularly involving pharmacists, are crucial for the successful implementation of ASPs. This research contributes to the body of knowledge on ASPs in Pakistan and highlights the urgent need for targeted educational interventions and robust stewardship policies to mitigate the threat of AMR. The study's recommendations aim to enhance the efficacy of ASPs, ultimately improving patient care and healthcare outcomes in Islamabad and beyond. | en_US |
