dc.description.abstract | Bidcn's administration followed a rather tumultuous regime, replete with elaborate uncertainty regarding the Afghan peace process and the alleged involvement of the US in the said matter. Following the events of 9/ll, US policy towards Afghanistan changed in nature multiple times, shifting from "capture and kill" to state building, the latter of which included strengthening the goven1ance systems and public administration and potentially ridding the country of the menaces of corruption and nepotism. The ain1 was to instill self-ruling capabilities in Afghans in an effort to ensure a safe withdrawal and the handing over of the entire state machinery to capable hands. This research work unearths the key elements of US foreign policy during the Biden administration, which oversaw the US withdrawal from Mghanistan, though only in the wake of a Tali ban takeover. The latter incident marked a significant shift in power dynamics, which meritec the need for this research. This research explores the influence of regional geopolitics and their impact on regional securit: dynamics, thereby assessing the consequences of the post-US withdrawal security situation i Afghanistan. Furthermore, it sheds light on the security implications of US withdrawal and offe a clear picture of the various situations arising thereafter. It suggests that although the Tali ban regime may have surfaced contrary to the desire of the ~ called modem democratic world, there's a dire need to understand their governance regime c: help them deliver better. It also recommends that despite the reservations of nations with regarc the rather undemocratic takeover of the government, some semblance of democratic behavior still be ensured by the world powers, particularly the US given its history in Afghanistan am familiarity with local dynamics and challenges. | en_US |
