Abstract:
Firefighting is an important but dangerous occupation. A firefighter must be able to get to a fire quickly and safely extinguish the fire, preventing further damage and reducing fatalities. Our task as electrical engineers is to design and build a prototype system that could autonomously detect and extinguish a fire. Also aims at minimizing air pollution. This thesis describes the design and implementation of a small autonomous fire fighting robot. At the heart of the system is the microcontroller. Program code to control the fire fighting robot is written in C language. The system controls two stepper motors for precision movement. Furthermore, the robot performs analog to digital conversion on multiple infrared sensors to detect floor markings. Once the robot detects the candle, it extinguishes the flame and returns to its starting point. The extinguishing system is comprised of a large fan.
