Abstract:
The electronics industry is known for a very complex global supply chains and extreme competitiveness. Companies/firms face disruptions, extensively volatile markets, and rapid technological advancements. To overcome these challenges and achieve Sustainable Competitive Advantage (SCA), Supply Chain Resilience (SCR) becomes critical for sustainability and revenue generation. However, research on SCR and SCA, particularly in emerging economies like Pakistan, remains very limited. This study primarily investigates the relationship between SCR and SCA in the context of Pakistan's rapidly growing Electronics Industry. It aims to identify the impact of proactive, reactive, and supply chain design quality capabilities on operational vulnerability (OV) and its mediating role in the relationship between the SCR and SCA. Additionally, the study explores the potential moderating effect of government policies and regulations on this relationship. Employing a quantitative approach, the study will collect data through surveys from executives and managers (as mentioned) in questionnaire across various segments of the Pakistani electronics industry. Structural equation modeling will be used to analyze the relationships between variables and test the proposed hypotheses. Expected contributions: This research contributes to both academic and practical domains. The theoretical framework will be refined by exploring the relationship of SCR, OV (mediating role), and SCA in the emerging market context. Additionally, the study will provide practical comprehensions for Pakistani electronics firms, enabling them to build resilient supply chains and achieve the SCA. Policymakers / Regulatory authorities will gain valuable information to craft supportive regulations and initiatives that foster a conducive environment for SCR development and strengthen the industry's global competitiveness. The findings of this research can be generalized to other developing economies facing similar challenges in the electronics industry. Additionally, the study paves the way for further research on the interplay between SCR, SCA, and external factors like government policies and geopolitical dynamics.
