dc.description.abstract The main objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Joya Mair-04. Geographically Joya Mair-04 is located at latitude 32° 59' 51.6" N and longitude 72°49' 32.7" E in Upper Indus basin. Porwar sub-basin is one of the most prominent oil-producing basins in Pakistan. Wireline log data was provided by LMKR after the approval from DGPC. Log data included gamma ray log, resistivity logs (ILD and SFLU) and sonic log The methodology adopted to achieve the goal includes: Quality check of the data set (complete suits of wireline logs), correlation of curves of different logs to demarcate the possible reservoir zone, measurement and computation of shale volume using gamma ray log, porosity measurement by the porosity logs i.e. sonic log. resistivity of water, saturation of water and saturation of hydrocarbons. Petrophysical analysis of the zone of interest in Chorgali Formation shows that average volume of shale is 32.7%, sonic porosity is 20%, effective porosity is 13.3%, water saturation is 22.7% and hydrocarbon saturation is 77.3%. All these factors confirmed that the marked zone has a good hydrocarbon potential. en_US
