Abstract:
This study explores the Chinese approach to international institutional revisionism and its impact on the international institutions. As China continues to rise as a global power, it has increasingly sought to challenge and reshape existing international institutions to better align with its own interests and vision. The study is driven by combination of many factors of Chinese international institutional revisionism.Firstly, China seeks to address what it perceives as a western-dominated international system that does not adequately represent the Chinese interests. Secondly, China aims to establish itself as a global leader and shape the rules and norms of international governance to better suit its own development model and values. The study was tested in light of the Constructivism theory and the neoclassic realism theory. The study was qualitative in nature with content analysis performed using PRISMA on the literature and reports. The research found out that the Chinese efforts to international institutional revisionism are “Reformist Revisionist” that are focused on improving the functions of international institutions, along with providing an alternative institutional approach to the world to fulfill the global expansionist needs. Studies on Chinese international institutional revisionism can enhance the existing literature on the Chinese economic and foreign policy understanding. This can help policymakers and literary society in developing policies and conducting further research based on the outcomes of the study.
