dc.description.abstract | This dissertation contains the study of 2D seismic reflection data interpretation of selected seismic lines of Balkasar Area, Central Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan, for delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. The seismic data for this dissertation was provided by Land Mark Resources (LMKR) with the permission of the Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC). The data comprised ten seismic lines and a base map. The lines which were used are: PBJ-5 (dip line, SE-NW) PBJ-6 (dip line, SE-NW) PBJ-7 (dip line, SE-NW) PBJ-8 (strike, NE-SW) PBJ-10 (strike line, NE-SW) PBJ-11 (oblique line, N-S) Three prominent reflectors (Yellow, red and Green) were marked on the basis of their reflection, which represent Eocene (Sakesar/Chorgali Formatiom), Lokhart Limestone, and Khewra Sandstone respectively. Two-Way Time (TWT) from the seismic sections and average velocities were used to create TWT and Depth Contour maps and 3D Time and Depth Surfaces. | en_US |
