| dc.description.abstract | This project is about an application that can be used to identify any malicious activity on a particular website. Our aim is to make browsing safe for everyone and spread awareness about how easy it is to gather personal information of any person. All that person must do is to click on a website. With the growth ofthe internet, the number of malicious attacks has risen, with phishing being the most common. Phishing is a broad word that almost everyone is unfamiliar with. Phishing is a method of obtaining personal information such as passwords, credit card numbers, financial transactions, and so on. Majority of the phishing attacks are conducted by posing as trustworthy entity. Victims ate tricked into providing such information by a combination of spoofing techniques and social engineering. The fact that these fake websites look very similar to the original ones is why almost everyone falls for this technique. Therefore, these websites are being hosted. In this paper we have proposed a new approach named as "Malicious Website Detection using Visual Cryptography and OTP" to solve the problem of phishing. Here an image-based authentication using Visual Cryptography is implemented with the combination of OTP (One Time Password). The use of visual cryptography is explored to preserve the privacy of an image captcha by decomposing the original image captcha into two shares. Through our proposed method, user will be able to enter the URL ofany website and our project will them how safe that website is for use. What makes our project unique is how easy it is to use. It is useful not for every security enthusiast but for every single user willing to secure their internet browsing. Using this, website cross verifies its identity and proves that it is a genuine website before the end users. | en_US |
