dc.description.abstract | Few years back Sunday bazaars were considered to be place for lower or middle class people, but now even elite class can be found buying vegetables and other everyday items. Through our research we want to verify this belief and find out the reasons behind this change. Whether it has grown over the years, how many people are making a living out of it. Is there a need for such bazaar? What kind of structure these bazaars have and are they really effective source of subsidized products for people with low income and who are looking for convenience. The impact of this bazaar is widespread. Different sectors of society are affected by presence of this bazaar. Our research also aims to identify those different sectors which are influenced by this bazaar and how they are influenced. This research paper consist all the work done to identify the growing trend of Sunday bazaar and the reasons behind this change. We started with the exploratory research and found some secondary data in shape of articles and clippings. This secondary data gave us some information regarding the origin of this bazaar, how this bazaar is held in neighbor country, how it is held in different cities of Pakistan, the prices of the goods at Sunday bazaar and different stalls held at Sunday bazaar. So this data gave us brief intro to our topic, and little superficial knowledge about our topic After getting a brief info we did the descriptive research to clear the picture. For this purpose we conducted two focus groups and one in-depth interview with an expert and a several mall interviews with the retailers and consumers. We went to Sunday bazaar couple of times to interview the retailers. Purpose was to find out the reasons why they come here, from how long they coming here, what type of customers they come across and how is the management’s behavior with them. Besides these malls intercept we also conducted two focus groups to get an insight of consumers view points regarding different issues like price quality and changes occurred over time. We the viewpoints of consumers on different issues like price, quality, changes, bargaining, problems, their buying pattern and their main motivations for visiting Sunday bazaar. First focus group consisted of young adults, and other one was of working women. Their view points were none the less same. The working females liked the idea of Sunday bazaar mainly because it’s a day off and they get all the stuff under one roof The in-depth interview with officials of CDA helped us get some official and inside information.
