Abstract:
Early warning systems are an important component of disaster risk management
strategies. In contrast to flood forecasting systems, which assess flood risk, the main
purpose of early warning systems is to issue warnings when a flood is imminent or
already occurring. IoT based early flood detection and avoidance system is
intelligent system which keeps close watch over various natural factors to predict a
flood arrival for caution, to minimize the damage caused by the flood.
In recent decades, “flood risk”, defined as the probability and other physical
characteristic of floods has been increasing alarmingly in many parts ofthe country.
Natural disasters like a flood can be devastating leading to property damage and loss
oflives. To eliminate or lessen the impacts ofthe flood, the system uses various natural
factors to detect flood.
