Abstract:
Purpose: Green Personnel Management (GPM) enables an organization to align business strategies with the environmental protection concerns, devise and implement practices that lead towards sustainability of the organization. A profound look on the literature shows the dearth of research on the factors that act as linking mechanisms between GPM and Sustainability. Thus, the purpose of the present study is to measure the effect of perceived GPM on perceived Sustainability, through moderating role of Personal Green Values (PGV) and Environmental Knowledge. Design/Methodology/Approach: The sample of this study constituted of 550 employees working in pharmaceuticals in Lahore. Data was collected through a questionnaire based survey. Regression analysis was performed through SPSS. Findings: PGV and Environmental Knowledge are reported to moderate the relationship between GPM and Sustainability. Research implications: This study extended the literature, on the basis of Person- Organization Fit theory, by proposing the moderating role of PGV and Environmental Knowledge between GPM and Sustainability. Thus using the findings of this study, policy makers can devise policies that emphasize on implementing green HR practices as a strategic initiative to achieve sustainable business performance in the longer run. Originality/Value: This study will contribute to the existing research literature on GHRM and Sustainability by addressing the literature gap regarding moderators that act as linking mechanism between GHRM and Sustainability.
