dc.description.abstract This dissertation is based on the 48-fold 2D-seismic reflection data of the Sanghar area, Sind, Pakistan. The data was provided by LMK Resources with the permission of the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC). The area lies in the Lower Indus Basin. The oldest stratigraphic unit exposed in the Lower Indus Basin is the Walgai formation of the Triassic age while the youngest are the Siwaliks. The main reservoir is the Cretaceous (Goru formation) and is important for its hydrocarbon (Oil & gas) structural traps. The area has undergone the Extensional Tectonic Regime which produced the Normal faulting in the region. Major Horst and Graben structures are formed due to the process of rifting. The seismic sections were of the lines 927-SGR-820, 927-SGR-821, 947-SGR- 190, 947-SGR-194, and 862-SGR-208EXT. These lines were acquired between January 1987 and June 2003. Root mean square and interval velocities were also computed during processing and provided with the seismic section at selected CDPs and are used for the calculation of average velocities to convert the given time into depth. The reflector Top Lower Goru is marked due to its prominent reflection on the seismic section. The depth of the reflector is found by using velocity and one-way travel time. For the structural Interpretation of the area, Time and Depth contour maps are generated. en_US
