dc.description.abstract | The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the study area, in a part of Upper Indus basin i.e. Chanda oil field, and delineation potential leads for future prospects. This has to be done by the analysis of 2-D seismic and wire line log data, which have been provided by Landmark, Pakistan with the permission of the Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions, Islamabad, Pakistan. This data set comprises with 4 seismic lines and a complete suite of wireline logs of Chanda Well Deep-1. The methodology adopted to accomplish this task includes; structural and stratigraphic interpretation of seismic data, 2-D seismic modeling, crustal shortening, rock physics, synthetic seismogram, and petrophysical analysis. Seismic data analysis includes the identification and marking of the different lithological horizons and names them according to the depths after correlation with the well data. The demarcation of different faults on these horizons is to develop the structural geometry. Seismic depth and time mapping to develop structural contour maps using different licensed software for different marked stratigraphic horizons. The same seismic data was also used to analyze the rock physical parameters, and 2-D seismic modeling and to develop an idea for crustal shortening of the area under study. A synthetic seismogram was also developed with the help of Density log (RhoB) and the Sonic log (Dt) to confirm the geological section made by the seismic interpretation. Analysis of wire line logs includes the calculation of different reservoir characteristics like Shale Volume (Vsh), Sand Volume (Vsnd), Porosity (Phi), Resistivity of True Formation (Rt), Density (RhoB), Water Saturation (Sw), Hydrocarbon Saturation (Shc) etc., using different available Logs such as Gamma Ray, Compensated Neutron LLD, LLS, Microspherically Focused Log, Litho Density Log, Sonic Log and Spontaneous Potential Log. These measured Parameters, are then, used further for reservoir potential evaluation. The results computed from all the above-mentioned analysis of the data was used for the integrated study regarding reservoir characterization of the area under study. | en_US |
