Abstract:
The project area lies in the Sulaiman Range, Central Indus Basin. The Pirkoh Gas field is located in Baluchistan province, is about 610 km south west of Islamabad and 100 km north west of the Sui Gas Field with an elevation of 1115 meters above mean sea level. The seismic lines chosen for interpretation were line# 877-PRK-106, 816-PRK-01, and 806-PRK-06/06 EXT lies in the Sulaiman Range. One strike line runs in the north direction and two dip lines run in the east direction. The data acquisition and processing are done by OGDCL.
Prominent reflectors were marked on the seismic sections which represent different chosen formations. A time section is produced from the seismic section using the SPs and the two-way time of the reflector and fault. The average velocities are then used to find the depths of the formations for the depth section. Three reflectors are marked on the seismic section on the basis
of observed reflection events. The marked horizons show deformation in the area caused by compressional tectonics. I have marked thrust faults in my dip lines which are parallel to each other. Subsurface contour mapping is also done with the help of a surfer for generating the time and depth contour maps to see an extension of respective horizons and faults extension. Interpretation of seismic section is done on the basis of “ Phantom
Horizon Method” because the data quality was poor. My project area is under the compressional regime, so thrust faulting is dominated throughout the area. On the basis of the depth and stratigraphic information of my study area, I have given names to horizons R1, R2, and R3, and R1 can probably be the Dunghan formation, R2 Lower Goru, and R3 Chiltan formation.
