Abstract:
Migrated seismic lines 97-MYL-05, 97-MYL-07, 97-MYL-08, 97-MYL-10, 97-MYL-12, and 97-MYL-13 of MEYAL area were obtained from the Land Mark Resources with prior approval from the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession for carrying out this study. The first four lines are trending S-N while the later two are E-W. Four reflectors Kohat (R1), Chorgali (R2), Sakesar (R3), and Basement (R4) were marked to investigate the geological structure present in the area. To investigate the lateral and vertical variations of velocity, average velocity, and Isovelocity graphs were generated. To see reflectors' position time and depth sections were prepared. Time and depth contour maps show pop-up structures, so this may act as a trap for hydrocarbons. Low velocities in the structure show the presence of hydrocarbons. 3D depth surface maps were also generated which somehow confirmed the subsurface structure. Finally, Rock Physics and several Engineering properties of rocks were calculated and their cross-sections were also generated to investigate the behavior of seismic velocities in the sub-surface. These properties also gave an idea about the subsurface lithology and its properties e.g. density, porosity, etc.
