| dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the well Bhal Syedan-02. Geographically Bhal Syedan-02 well is located at Lat. 33°35´00˝ and 33°40´00˝ N and Long. 72°63˝05´ and 72°65´00˝ E at a distance of 52 km southwest of Islamabad city and can easily be accessed through various routes. The Tectonically Study area is part of the foothills of the Kala Chitta Ranges, located in the northern part of the Potwar Plateau, Upper Indus basin. Structurally, the Bhal Syedan area (Kala Chitta Ranges) is highly deformed and very complex due to intense faults. These faults are mostly thrust faults dipping towards the North. To evaluate the potential of hydrocarbons physical properties were calculated and analyzed petrophysical analysis. Two zones of interest were marked Zone 1 ranging from 3815-3827m and Zone 2 ranging from 3726-3740m. Zone 1 has an Average porosity 19%, Effective porosity 12% and Hydrocarbon saturation of 61% due to crossovers of porosity logs. Zone 2 has an Average porosity 18%, an Effective porosity 8% and a Hydrocarbon saturation of 21%. Among these two zones, the Zone 1 shows a good hydrocarbon saturation of 61% which is economical. | en_US |
