Indian Military Modernization under Artificial Intelligence and it's Impacts on Pakistan Security

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in South Asia, with a specific emphasis on its implications for Pakistan’s security. It also focused on comprehensively understanding the political dynamics within the region influenced by AI technology and exploring India’s growing reliance on AI weapon systems. The current study has also emphasized on examining the effects of these modern weapon systems on Pakistan’s security and analyzing the interplay between AI-specific arms race and the politics of nuclearization in the subcontinent. In this study, secondary data from 45 research studies (published from 2018 to 2023) was used, as qualitative research design was employed to attain the research objectives. A detailed studyof the literature was used for collecting data, and sample was selected based on predetermined inclusion criteria. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the collected data. Findings from content analysis revealed that AI technology has a substantial impact on South Asian politics, altering speech, judgment, and communication. The management of the changing political and AI landscape requires collaboration between politicians, technologists, and civil society. Responsible and ethical AI usage is essential in politics. For maintaining ethical standards and international conformity for regional and global security, India's military strategy emphasizes proactive governance. Given the reliance of AI-specific arms race on regional politics, responsible AI usage and diplomatic engagement are important to ensure security and stability in the nuclearized subcontinent.
