BU BOT

Abstract

In this current day and age, information gathering is essential. The process of gathering information for a university can be time-consuming and difficult for prospective students. Moreover, it is also a burden on admissions department at universities to share the said information with prospective students. This project helps to solve this problem. We have developed the “BU Bot”, a chatbot that allows prospective students to collect details about admission process and roadmaps. The BU Bot was created using Google Dialogflow, which is a one of the best tools available for Natural Language Processing. We trained our chatbot for our university’s admission information. We were able to simulate a back and forth human conversation with its user. As our bot is hosted via a server using Node JS, which allows the BU Bot to be up and running on multiple platforms. The system is able to answer unseen questions and record queries for further improvement. We achieved this by collecting data from our university admissions office, student’s experiences, including our own and using Bahria university’s own website. The data is then transformed into dialogues by identifying intents and entities, which is then trained accordingly.
