dc.description.abstract | It is the era of science and technology, and many students are interested in choosing Computer Science, Software Engineering, and IT-related fields as their future careers. Many students, despite taking admissions in their interested programs at undergraduate level, are concerned and puzzled about choosing their future career path and securing a good job in it according to their personality, skills, and knowledge. It is a prevailing issue especially in the developing countries like Pakistan where proper career counselling is not provided to the students. The aim of our project is to resolve career selection problems of students and to help them secure good jobs in future. TeCareer shall help students of Computer Science, Software Engineering, and IT-related fields in identifying the career that suits them the most according to their personality, knowledge, and skills. The system first asks few personal information questions that give an insight into the students’ personality traits. Then, the system allows the students to choose between the two options as per their convenience. By choosing the first option, students can proceed without attempting the test which will allow them to enter marks in few knowledge areas and rate themselves in few skills that are required by the Machine Learning algorithm for career recommendation. If they choose the second option, they will need to attempt MCQs based test and the system will calculate the total marks they scored in each knowledge area and points they scored in each skill and the Machine Learning algorithm will use those results to recommend a career for them. The data/results from both the options are then stored in the database and fed into the Machine Learning algorithm at the backend. The algorithm learns and recommends a career to the student by using the dataset at the backend and the data/results provided to it by the student. Moreover, system provides essential career information such as skills required, job responsibilities and salary range for the recommended career. The students shall be able to attempt the test multiple times and the result of each attempt is stored in history which can also be viewed by the students. The system also has an admin panel where the admin can apply CRUD operations on personal information questions, test questions and career information that will be displayed to the students. | en_US |
