dc.description.abstract | Meyal Field is one of the main hydrocarbons producing fields in Pakistan. Located in the Potwar Basin, this Meyal field is the focus of study. The utilized data to carry out this research consisted of three dip-lines, one strike-line and the petrophysical analysis was done with the help of two well-data. The Eocene Chorgali and Sakesar Formations, which make up the primary reservoir units were the focus points. During seismic interpretation, horizons were marked on Chorgali and Sakesar Limestone with the additions of fault marking as well. The time, velocity and depth contours maps were created. This proved that the presence of a subsurface anomaly in the structure caused a plunging, faulting anticline. On the dip lines it was observed that the presence of a back thrust and fore thrust proved to be a pop-up structure. These maps showed potential reservoirs and indicated viable locations for hydrocarbon exploitation in the future. Petrophysical analysis done complete interval of Chorgali and Sakesar formation revealed that sakesar Formation has more hydrocarbon potential with relatively less clay volume and high effective porosity as compared to Chorgali Formation. | en_US |
