| dc.description.abstract | The primary goal of this study is to determine the bearing capacity of the foundation. Two (2) boreholes were drilled up to 45ft depth. The boreholes were drilled using a rotary machine and samples were collected in air tight plastic bags. Standard Penetration Test (SPT) was carried out in accordance with ASTM guidelines. Tests like sieve analysis, the Atterberg Limits, and moisture content tests were performed to interpret the soil geotechnical behavior of soil samples. On the basis of field and lab test results bearing capacity was calculated and raft foundation is recommended as safe and economical. The Atterberg Limits (ASTM D-4318) and grain size analysis (ASTM D- 6913) were performed to interpret the sub soil geotechnical behaviors. Using Bowels equation for deep formation, bearing capacity is calculated at various widths i.e. 25ft, 50ft, 75ft and 100ft. | en_US |
