Abstract:
The main theme of the research is the petro-physical analysis of Balkasar oil field Geographically, the area lies in Attock District, Punjab, Pakistan. Tectonically, the area lies
in eastern Potwar division of Upper Indus Basin Pakistan. The petro-physical discussion of
the study area is on the basis of well log data available for Oxy-01 and Oxy-02 well drilled in the field. The main focal point of petro-physical analysis is the evaluation of the primary
reservoirs in the study area. The primary reservoirs of both wells were recognized as Chorgali Formation and Sakessar Limestone of late Eocene age in terms of three main reservoir characteristics i.e., porosity, hydrocarbon saturation and shale content of the reservoirs in the study area. The whole interpretation is expressed in the form of graphs that represent good effective porosity in both formations while the saturation of hydrocarbons is more than saturation of water in Chorgali as compared to Sakessar making it a good reservoir for the accumulation of hydrocarbon.
