This study was carried out in July 2022 to September 2022 to know about the water quality of Daultala and surrounding villages of Doongi Khurd, Doongi Kalan, Dokhua and
Hasal, district Gujarkhan, Pakistan keeping in view the standards set by WHO. The only
sourceof drinking water is groundwater that is well water. The main goal of this research was to
analyze and determine the biological and physicochemical parameters, arsenic and iron
concentrations of drinking water in Daultala and surrounding villages of Doongi Khurd, Doongi Kalan, Dokhua and Hasal. All of the samples were collected through standard protocols. Present results show that thirty-five (35) samples were collected from different wells situated area the place to determine the drinking water quality. Physical, chemical, and biologicalparameters were assessed of all thirty-five samples. Physical parameters including pH, total dissolved solids, turbidity, salts, and temperature at all locations of well sources was within the permissible limit except of electric conductivity which had 48.57% samples exceeding the permissible limits. Considering chemical parameters carbonates, hardness, calcium and magnesium the samples excess of chemicals exceeding the ‘permissible limits with sodium, hardness, calcium, magnesium exceeding 20%, 20%, 91% and 90% while for alkalinity all the values of the samples lied between 3-6mg/l. Of all the total samples,77.14% showed presence of total bacteria in Nutrient agar and 85.7% of the samples showed presence total coliforms in MacConkey agar above the who standards .no presence of arsenic was detected in any of the 35 samples while iron
assessment showed that 31.4% of the samples collected had iron above the permissible limits. The analysis showed that none of the water sample was total safe so there is a need to spread awareness among the people of the study area and installation of filter plants as well as division of steps to detect the causes of contamination and its prevention to ensure safe drinking water to the masses. The study provides a baseline for future studies regarding the drinking water quality in the selected area. |
