dc.description.abstract The study was conducted to assess the quality of drinking water in the G9 sector and further divided into streets such as G9/1, G9/2, G9/3, and G9/4. Islamabad samples were collected randomly from houses on G9 streets, to check the biological, physical and chemical parameters. The physical parameter includes (EC, Temperature, ORP, TDS, salts, COD, Turbidity, and pH) were tested. The chemical parameter includes (chloride, carbonates, hardness and alkalinity). Other biological parameters were also determined such, as total bacterial count. The results were compared with WHO standards of drinking water quality. One of the important reasons for drinking water contamination is municipal sewage and wastewater from industries at different points of distribution. Water samples were collected in sterilized bottles carefully for biological tests and for physical and chemical tests by using simple plastic bottles. All the physical parameters were found within the permissible limit but a few of the chemical parameters like chlorides were significantly higher than permissible limits. In microbial analysis few samples showed higher number of microbial growth and also showed gram-negative bacteria. Chlorides were found in higher quantity so they must be controlled, and large number of bacteria can also cause many diseases in humans like cholera, typhoid, diarrhea and stomach ailments. Steps should be taken by the government agencies and make sure that everyone is supplied with clean water. en_US
