Water Quality Assessment Of Korang River And Its Impact On Ground Water Of The Surrounding Areas

Abstract

The Study “Water Quality Assessment of Korang River and its Impact on Ground Water of Surrounding Areas” was conducted from August 2020 to September 2020. Three samples of surface water of Korang River was collected and fifteen samples of ground water of Ghousia Colony and Burma Town was collected.

A typical sample collection procedure was followed and, for bacteriological, physical and chemical criteria, two different kinds of plastic bottles were used in each case. Using accurate analytical methods, these samples were then analysed. The effects of all parameters have been individually defined and discussed in various figures. All samples of Korang River and some samples of ground water of Ghousia Colony and Burma Town was contaminated with E.coli and SS. Chemical parameters were within permissible limits for all water samples and physical parameters were also within permissible limits given by WHO.

The water of the Korang River was highly turbid and highly contaminated with bacteria, so it should not be used for human consumption. Also, the groundwater samples contaminated with Total Coliform and SS should be treated before consumption.
