The current education system is based on theoretical knowledge and lacks efficient ways of teaching concepts to students. This results in a focus on memorization skills rather than functional understanding, leading to a lack of interest and the inability to apply knowledge in the real world. The Enhanced Learning through VR Incorporation project aims to revolutionize the learning system by presenting concepts visually using virtual reality (VR). The project is a prototype that demonstrates the effectiveness of VR for education, particularly for teaching biological concepts in science. By immersing students in virtual environments and allowing them to interact with different object sets and simulations, they can develop a complete understanding of concepts. Virtual reality is an interactive environment that immerses users in computer-rendered worlds and allows them to engage with artificial environments as if they are actually present in them. The main focus of VR is to make the interaction feel natural and provide an immersive experience. The potential uses of VR include entertainment, education, training, and therapy. In education, VR can be used to create simulated environments for students to practice and learn in. The main problem faced by students is a lack of interest in studies, particularly in science-related concepts due to the lack of visualization. The Enhanced Learning through VR Incorporation project addresses this problem by using VR to boost motivation, interest, and attention. By making learning fun and interactive, the project provides a more fluid and natural way to learn concepts using virtual reality. The project aims to design an interactive VR application for students targeting science concepts for grades 6-8. The project is a prototype that demonstrates the ways in which virtual reality can transform learning. It helps students learn biological concepts by displaying and providing interactivity with different organs, organelles, and cells of plants. The project scope is to use VR for aiding students in education, particularly for teaching science concepts in grades 6-8. The project’s ultimate goal is to help students understand concepts more effectively by helping them engage and interact with objects and entities included in their subject matter. This way, their cognitive strengths will be fully utilized, as has been proven numerous times through research. |
