dc.description.abstract The objective of this study is to determination the hydrocarbon potential in Dhulian-44 well using wireline logs. Dhulian Oil Field is located at the central region of the Potwar sub-basin, 90 km south-west of Islamabad. Tectonically, Dhulian Fold is flanked by Soan syncline to the south and by the tight Pindi Gheb syncline to the north. Log data used in this study includes the Gamma-ray log, Gamma ray Neutron tool, Resistivity log, Caliper log, and SP log. The borehole profile of the zone of interest was good. The calculation of the porosity was carried out with the help of the Gamma-ray Neutron Tool. One prospect zone had been marked within Datta Formation. The present study showed that the volume of clean was about 78.3 %. The total porosity of the zone of interest was 9.15% while effective porosity was 7.14%. Saturation of water was 71 % which showed that the zone of interest is a water-bearing zone as compared to hydrocarbon. Petrophysical analysis showed that prospect zone has clean lithology and good effective porosity. Beside clean lithology and good effective porosity there is relatively high percentage of water saturation. This can be probably due to the absence of proper sealing mechanism or cap rock. Therefore, petrophysical reveal that in Dhulian- 44, Datta Formation is not acting as an effective reservoir. en_US
